About this collection

W.C. Handy, Father of the Blues, was born in Florence, Alabama on November 16, 1873. He wrote more than 150 secular and sacred musical compositions and continued writing, even after he lost his eyesight, until his death in 1958. The Shoals is proud to claim him as one of our own.
